Having been in the Crewing Company family since 2006, I can wholeheartedly say they are the most professional and friendly company I've ever worked with. I worked with The Crewing Company for a total of 5 months in 2019 as a motion designer/animator. In total I did 15 jobs with them for 5 different clients. We agreed their fee was 16% of my rate, in discussion with one of our clients it became apparent they invoiced considerably more. My last job with them they booked me out as an 'Illustrator' presumably because I had experience with Illustrator the software, when I arrived it was clear I wasn't what the client was after.
My experience was that they are personable but aren't transparent and are minimal when it comes to due diligence, their priority seemed to be filling the role not filling the role appropriately to the brief.

Terrible experience. They booked me for a job but took advantage of me on my day rate and pocketed the difference. It wasn't after talking to 7 other freelancers from various sources including the Crewing Company that I realized that I was being screwed around. They lied to me continuously not just on trying to squeeze me on day rate but when I essentially asked if there was any work going they say in a nepotistic way something along the lines of: Our books are full and we want to look after our current freelancers (even though I was one) by not diluting the work for them, essentially by giving them regular work instead of you.
We haven't got any new clients due to COVID (Which is a lie because I saw their Instagram posts bragging somewhat about getting a new client). We will let you know if the situation changes (another lie). From this statement it seems clear to me they feel above the law on discriminating against people and need regulation to ensure they fairly give out work to people rather than have their favourites (and don't want to dilute the work for them). This all sounds so suspect and fishy. It's such a shame to have to write about yet another issue in the world today, but if I didn't, nothing would change for the better.
