Services
More than 2.2 million people in the UK work in finance and related professional services, spread nationally. The finance sector in total accounts for 7% of all UK employment and includes roles working in accountancy practices, commerce & industry, not-for-profit and the public sector. While a significant proportion of the job opportunities are centred in London and the South East, over half are in other regions around the country with other cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester having flourishing financial centres.
The automotive sector is a vital part of the UK economy with over 814,000 people employed in the industry. There are 350,000 jobs supported by the UK automotive aftermarket. The industry has invested heavily in apprenticeships and training - this has resulted in a wide range of opportunities available.
Even during the depths of the recession the property and construction sector remained an important part of the UK economy. Economic recovery is bringing increased demand for graduate-level managerial and professional posts which is expected to continue throughout the next decade. Although thought of as traditionally dominated by low-skilled workers, 42% of the UK construction workforce are in specialised and skilled construction activities. There is a recognised shortage of graduate skills, particularly in management - project management being a common weakness.
Engineering & Manufacturing is a vast arena for jobs, providing a wealth of opportunity for skilled candidates. The UK employs more than 700,000 people in engineering roles, and there are 400,000 people work in manufacturing in the food and drink sector alone. Other sectors requiring engineering and manufacturing expertise include aerospace, automation and robotics, automotive, biotechnology, chemical, civil engineering, electrical, electronics, marine, medical and pharmaceutical, metals, minerals and materials, nuclear, oil and gas, space.

The fact that you are reading this probably means you are conducting your due diligence and are thinking of doing some sort of business with this company, either as a candidate or as a client. My one word piece of advice, which is applicable if you are either of these is quite simply DON'T! I was dragged off a contract to attend 2 interviews with these people at the HR Go Dudley office, at a cost of approximately 150 in lost earnings, for a position that didn't exist and for which they knew from the start didn't exist at their 'Birmingham' office.
This is disgusting behaviour from what is meant to supposedly be a professional agency, having worked in recruitment for a number of years I realise some unscrupulous agencies DO advertise jobs that don't exist in order to attract candidates to canvass out, these however take it to the edge and then some. Thankfully there are plenty of other agencies out there that are professional with ethics and integrity, just do yourself a favour if you're a candidate or a client looking for staff and ignore these cowboys. 1 star is way to generous but it seems I can't give 0 stars!
In response to the owners reply to my original review (I don't know who it is as it doesn't give a name, I doubt if it would be Jack Parkinson though) my beef isn't the fact that I didn't get the job as not everyone who attends every job interview will get offered the roles they've interviewed for. My grievance is the fact that there wasn't a job there IN THE FIRST PLACE.
On more than 1 occasion I asked when the 'Birmingham' office would be opening and was told it was all ready to go, contracts were in place and it was quite literally ASAP, and this was by people in authority within the company. To be then told well actually there isn't even a 'Birmingham' office ready to open in the foreseeable future was the final kick in the guts and that is why I've written this review and given the company 1 star.
All of this prompts the obvious questions; if there wasn't a 'Birmingham' office all along, why was I lied to and told there was and why was I approached and interviewed for a position that the company knew didn't exist from the word go? All of this could have been avoided if HR Go had been straight with me from day one yet they weren't, if they aren't straight with someone who has expressed a genuine interest in working for them how straight will they be with candidates and clients who they'll make money from? I leave that to any neutrals reading this to decide on.
